Under the authority of the RAMS Engineer (Reliability, Availability, Maintainability, Safety), the technical analyst will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and quality of data entered into our maintenance system, providing feedback to improve data quality, and developing scripts to associate and automate data analysis. This role requires a strong focus on data cleaning, automation of data analysis processes and the ability to support reliability monitoring through effective data management.

 

Responsibilities:

Data quality & Data entry

  • Adjust, modify and clean data entries from technicians in the maintenance system

  • Categorize each data entry as per guidelines

  • Execute data reconciliation and validation activities efficiently

  • Address data-related issues pertaining to cross-references, reconciliation, and location specific problems

  • Perform regular data quality checks in order to ensure data integrity and accuracy is maintained

Automation

  • Automate data analysis processes to enhance review and correlation efficiency

  • Develop cleansing, transformation, and enhancement rules with engineering team

  • Create additional database to address reliability categories classification

Data improvement

  • Develop data dictionary to facilitate data entry and reconciliation

  • Oversee monitoring, assessment, and reporting on data quality issues. This includes identifying data inconsistencies, inaccuracies, and anomalies and providing solutions

Feedback & reporting

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure data integrity and consistency

  • Ensure gaps found in the data are looped back to respective owners with the goal to improve their entry data quality

  • Coach the technicians and supervisors on how to improve data entry

  • Develop reporting to monitor data quality status and improvement through time

Requirements:

  • University degree in engineering, operations management, computer science, or equivalent

  • 3+ years of experience in operations, maintenance management, BI analysis, data analysis or a related field.

Competencies:

  • Experience in a production field (maintenance and railway an asset);
  • Proven experience in data cleaning, data management, and automation.

  • Advanced programming skills with Python (asset) or R, DAX, Power Query, SQL and Spark (asset);

  • Knowledge of Office 365 and Power App an asset;

  • Knowledge or understanding of artificial intelligence (RPA, machine learning, etc.);

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Data and performance-oriented thinking;

  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Strong communication skills to provide effective feedback and collaborate with stakeholders.
