Reporting to the Senior Manager, HR Technology, you will play a central role in supporting the VIP HRIS and its integrated time‑management subsystems. You will oversee system enhancements, change‑management strategies, training plans, and related documentation. Your expertise will guide risk assessments, prioritization, and decision‑making on system changes.
You will also act as the key resource for the HRIS‑payroll system and support knowledge transfer to sustain team expertise.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Analyze systems and processes to identify issues and recommend solutions to address complex problems and improve system performance;
- Develop, perform, and document required tests for payroll system changes in collaboration with IT and Payroll teams;
- Manage implementation and integration of enhancements to HRIS and related systems;
- Develop, manage, and test rules within control tables;
- Assess risk levels associated with improvement options;
- Establish a coordination process for payroll‑system improvement activities aligned with the roadmap;
- Identify issues related to collective agreement negotiations, assess impacts and costs, and recommend optimal solutions;
- Conduct cost analyses for internal requests and opportunities;
- Analyze the impact of changes to collective agreements and propose practical alternatives;
- Prioritize and complete requests from Transport Canada;
- Perform any other payroll‑related analysis;
- Ensure continuous improvement of HRIS processes and data governance;
- Protect data integrity and confidentiality by adhering to applicable guidelines;
- Develop and automate regular reports to validate data accuracy and implement corrective actions;
- Collaborate with the Employee Services team and stakeholders to optimize data sharing and improve processes;
- Provide support to internal and external auditors regarding HRIS data flows;
- Work with the HR Projects and Efficiency team to optimize existing processes;
- Support internal client groups with issues throughout the employee life cycle;
- Act as a resource for time‑management system owners across all sectors;
- Support the Senior Manager, HR Technology and the payroll team in managing the HRIS system, especially payroll and time‑management modules;
- Ensure and receive knowledge transfer to support continuity of expertise;
- Approve training‑plan development and support documentation;
- Manage and document payroll‑system process reviews and procedures.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration;
- 6 to 8 years of experience in system management, operations, or process review in HR/payroll;
- Experience implementing HR‑payroll systems in complex unionized environments (asset);
- Payroll accreditation (NPI) and knowledge of the Canada Labour Code (assets);
- Experience in a unionized, multisite Canadian environment;
- Strong MS Office skills and strong aptitude for HRIS (VIP/DLGL is a major asset).
