Reporting to the Director Investment Management, the analyst provides a variety of support in regards to the Administration of the Corporation defined benefit investments and defined contribution pension plans investments with assets totaling $2.5B, the majority of which are externally managed.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Performs the management and investment of the pension plan cash positions;
- Maintains, verifies and reconciles internal and custody accounting records for investment valuations and transactions, contributions and benefit payments.
- Responsible for the production of audited year-end financial statements and management of the audit process;
- Conducts the ongoing oversight of the DC plans and investment options;
- Ensures ongoing compliance with the Pension Fund governing Policies, monitors regulatory developments and industry best practices;
- Monitors activities and reporting of investment managers and other external service providers and ensures their compliance with contractual and mandate terms;
- Assists in the production of ongoing reporting to the Corporate Board and decision making supporting documentation, as well as for internal communications;
- Monitors capital markets developments and rebalancing requirements;
- Assists in researching and evaluating capital market opportunities and investment products;
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR :
- Must have an undergraduate degree in business/finance;
- Enrolled in the CFA program, completed level 1;
- Minimum of 2-4 years of relevant experience;
- Prior experience in pension, custody, performance measurement and/or consulting roles in an institutional context;
- Strong interest for and knowledge of capital markets in various asset classes;
- Proficient with Microsoft Office including PowerPoint;
- Ability for working with databases of different vendors (Reuters, Preqin, etc.);
- Manages time and resources effectively;
- Able to work under pressure and tight deadlines;
- Communicates messages clearly and effectively in both French and English (written and oral);
- Seeks opportunities to collaborate with others;
- Demonstrates strong teamwork capabilities;
- Possesses strong technical and analytical skills;
- Is curious, rigorous and critical;
- Makes sound decisions. Validates decisions with more experienced colleagues when required;
- Shows initiative in solving problems.
