The Material Planner will be responsible for developing and executing strategies to meet projects' material requirements. They will develop performance report templates and lead material management procedures for projects: development, implementation and communication.

 

The Material Planner will plan material requirements for production activities, ensure the timely availability of materials/components required for projects and manage their transfer.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Manage material planning for a major overhauls projects;
  • Develop and execute strategies to meet projects' material requirements in collaboration with Planning, Purchasing, Inventory, Engineering, Project Management and Production;
  • Generate detailed long-term material forecast for projects based on data analysis from various sources, including suppliers' terms & conditions and inventory history;
  • Plan material requirements for production activities through scope and frequency analysis of different projects/programs and communicate to Procurement and Inventory;
  • Develop performance report templates, updating reports weekly to show material acquisition progress, current situation and risks and presenting status to project management;
  • Provide material status, communicate delays in material delivery, which could impact projects schedules using as a minimum the existing tools, follows up on material status on a weekly basis and validate the information received from the Technical services.   Follow the progress of the undergoing projects and update the information in Oracle related to the planning kits and work-in processes;
  • Identify material acquisition risks and coordinate actions with Purchasing, Inventory, Engineering, Project Management, Production and Planning to mitigate their impact on the project's schedule;  
  • Ensure the timely availability of materials/components required for projects and maintenance/overhaul programs;
  • Work with the production to organize material deliveries to the production floor as well as the routing of stripped parts that are to be scrapped, reworked and used as is to control its disposition;
  • Manage the transfer of material to the locations where the work is being executed;
  • Drive the implementation of continuous improvement initiatives to improve material management.

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, Industrial Engineering or equivalent;
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in material management for projects;
  • Advanced level knowledge of MS Office Suite, in particular Excel;
  • Solid knowledge of logistics chain concepts, processes and inventory management;
  • Strong data analysis and organization skills. Attention to detail and focus on results;                 
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills;
  • Must be able to speak both English and French;
  • Excellent analytical and decision-making skills;
  • Knowledge of Power Bi system an asset.
