The Payroll Processing Accounting Clerk plays a key role in the administration and processing of employee payroll.
Work Schedule and Location
Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
This position is offered under a hybrid work arrangement requiring three days per week in the office. Tuesdays and Wednesdays are mandatory in-office days, while the third in-office day may be chosen by the employee, subject to operational requirements and team agreements.

Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and process employee payroll in accordance with collective agreements and current HR policies;
- Reconcile payroll data each pay period and investigate and correct any discrepancies or anomalies identified;
- Process statutory remittances to government agencies;
- Perform calculations related to salary revisions, payroll adjustments, and termination payments;
- Prepare various administrative and regulatory reports (employment insurance, tax slips, and other required reports);
- Actively participate in month-end and year-end closing activities;
- Provide support and share knowledge with payroll team members;
- Respond to inquiries and provide support to various departments regarding payroll accounting matters;
- Communicate and follow up with external partners and clients;
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and the development of new analyses in collaboration with the Supervisor and Accounting Operations Analysts;
- Perform other related duties associated with payroll administration.
Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in a payroll environment, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience;
- Functional bilingualism (French and English);
- Experience with transactional systems and payroll management tools;
- Strong ability to interpret and apply collective agreements;
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and the Microsoft Office suite;
- Knowledge of VIAnet, IRAS, and Oracle systems is considered an asset;
- Strong customer service orientation and commitment to supporting operations;
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment;
- Ability to work effectively in an environment involving numerous procedural exceptions and requiring sound judgment;
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Education Requirements
- College diploma (DEC), vocational diploma (DEP), attestation of collegiate studies (AEC), or equivalent post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration.
- Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) certification from the National Payroll Institute (formerly the Canadian Payroll Association) is considered a significant asset.
