Reporting to the Senior Manager, IT Project Management, Business Transformation Office, the Project Manager will be responsible for the overall management of Information Technology and business projects, in accordance with the agreed scope of the work.

 

You will be required to work on business projects for our many internal clients, including Transportation and Safety, Commercial Affairs, IT Infrastructure, and organizational support roles, such as the Human Resources, Legal and Finance departments. You may also be assigned to larger-scale Information Technology or Business Transformation projects for major programs, such as the Fleet Renewal program.

 

Responsibilities:

Ensure the management, planning, progress, rigorous oversight and delivery of projects:

  • Engage and mobilize internal resources and external resources from various firms;
  • Establish and comply with the scope, budget and financial forecasts, deadlines, dependencies, risks and issues for each project;
  • Define the acceptance criteria for projects and manage the quality process;
  • Put in place a robust project governance framework (decision making, management committees) outlined in a project plan;
  • Ensure that major decisions, change requests and the use of contingency are properly documented and reported to the Steering Committee and that impacts are validated by all stakeholders;
  • Ensure the committee has the information it needs to make decisions;
  • Arrange monthly meetings with the Steering Committee, and create and provide executive summaries;
  • Update the documentation and project plan, and provide regular project status reports;
  • Manage projects from conception to completion, facilitate the transfer of responsibilities to IT Operations and/or business functions, and assist the company in preparing project business cases;
  • Ensure a robust communication and change management plan is in place.

 

Conform to the methodologies in force, the deliverables for each phase and PMO templates:

  • Ensure supply and contract processes and decisions comply with governance guidelines;
  • Ensure ongoing improvement by constantly seeking ways to optimize processes for early delivery, or at minimum to deliver on time and on budget.

 

Requirements:

  • You have a minimum of 6 years' experience, including 5 years' experience in IT project management. In addition, you have demonstrated expertise in the design of business and system processes and solutions, as well as in change management in an IT environment;
  • A combination of academic training and relevant experience may be considered;
  • Experience in implementing projects involving multiple external vendors and internal implementation teams, including involvement in tendering, vendor negotiation and vendor relationship management processes;
  • PMP certification and proven hands-on knowledge of systems development and project management tools and methodologies such as Project Online;
  • Knowledge of Agile values and the SCRUM methodology is an asset;
  • Bilingualism (both oral and written).

  • Good negotiation skills and ability to persuade others to reach agreements;
  • Commitment to ongoing training: Willingness to keep up to date with best practices and project management tools in order to maintain a high level of project management expertise;
  • Basic knowledge of finance to assist our program managers in the development of business cases.
