Reporting to the Senior Specialist, Quality System, the incumbent performs quality inspection of parts/products when received in VIA warehouse and other parts as required. They will report any non-conformity and will follow up the supplier quality performance. They will also contribute to various continuous improvement initiative and implementation of quality department procedures.

Responsabilities:

Parts Receiving Inspection:

  • Perform & manage the incoming inspection» of parts/products and systems delivered by suppliers (internal/external) to VIA Rail using the appropriate procedures;
  • Manage and follow up non-conformance per NCR process until resolution of parts/products and systems received from suppliers (internal/external);
  • Ensure non-conformances identified are rectified with the implementation of corrective actions following NCR process;
  • Participate on supplier qualification audits per (Quality Management System) new supplier qualification process;
  • Analyze the inspected parts quality and supplier performance, develop and present appropriate KPI.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Continuous improvement of the « Receiving Inspection Procedure » and audit process efficiency;
  • Manage and contribute to various continuous improvement initiatives to increase equipment maintenance operational efficiency in maintenance facilities.

Management meetings and reporting:

  • Produce and update various audit and qualification reports with KPIs for management.

Requirements:

 

  • College Diploma (DEC) technical or similar discipline.
  • 5-10 years experience in a similar role (railroad and/or heavy transport industry or similar industry is an asset);
  • Experience on dimensional measurement process, classical tools and CMM;
  • Good knowledge on reading drawings, geometrical dimension and tolerancing (GD&T) ASME 14.5;
  • Strong computer knowledge, in particular Microsoft Excel and the Microsoft suite (knowing software engineering tools is an asset);
  • Bilingual (In Quebec; oral and written), with strong competencies for technical writing;
  • Available to travel on an occasional basis. Work mainly on day shift but could work on evening and night shifts exceptionally for operational needs.
