The Project Manager, Fixed Asset Management Portfolio, will report to the Senior Manager, Project Office, and work closely with technical specialists in railway infrastructure as well as with various teams responsible for the daily maintenance of maintenance centers and stations. He or she will be responsible for coordinating, integrating, and monitoring the project management process within these portfolios.

 

You will work directly with members of the Infrastructure technical team on projects that include both railway infrastructure maintenance and the upgrading of earthworks, tracks, bridges, or culverts. You will act as a project management resource to effectively guide the members of the Infrastructure team.

 

As for projects related to maintenance centers and stations, they are varied in nature. You will work jointly with team members to define and plan the project, including the development of the scope of work, budget, and schedule. You may also be called upon to manage the execution of work for stations and maintenance centers.

More generally, you will ensure compliance with corporate project management guidelines and project lifecycle deliverables.

 

As a project manager, you will work within a matrix structure. You will need to adhere to company rules and will be supported by internal groups such as Procurement, Legal, and Communications, to name a few

 

Project Management
 

  • Act as reference person for all questions and processes related to project management;
  • Collaborate with Capital Asset Management team members on project scope, budget, timelines, risks and issues;
  • Determine critical paths and ensure that mitigation plans are in place;
  • Support quality and performance review sessions (Gate Review) to mark major program milestones;
  • Participate in the implementation of the risk management process, foster a healthy culture of risk management and mitigation plans;
  • Ensure follow-up of the post-mortem process at the end of each project so that lessons learned are shared with those involved.  

 

Project Implementation

 

  • Responsible for implementing operational projects for stations and maintenance centres;
  • Responsible for applying the project life cycle from start to finish.

 

Governance and Strategy

 

  • Support portfolio governance activities in accordance with corporate project management office work methods and industry best practices in project management;
  • Report on project progress (quality, schedule, costs, risks);
  • Participate in setting future investment strategy for portfolios;
  • Help prepare presentation documents for various portfolio governance meetings.

 

Requirements

 

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, administration or related field;
  • A minimum of 8-10 years project management experience in operations, railway infrastructure or transportation. A combination of relevant education and experience may be considered;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and French.

 

Competencies

 

  • Proven practical knowledge of project management activities and project management tools and methods, such as MS Project, SharePoint, EPM 2010 and Project Online (an asset);
  • Experience in executing major projects and coordinating cross-functional teams;
  • PMP certification
  • Experience of working in a matrix management environment
