Your leadership, strategic vision, and expertise will help strengthen and expand a culture of operational excellence across the country. You will work hand in hand with business units and leadership teams to identify, prioritize, and deliver high-impact initiatives that enhance performance, efficiency, and employee engagement.

Responsibilities:

Strategy and Implementation

  • Contribute to the development and rollout of the national continuous improvement program, aligned with VIA Rail’s business objectives.
  • Develop and recommend strategies to enhance organizational performance, reduce costs, and generate new revenue streams.
  • Collaborate closely with various departments (Operations, Finance, Technology, etc.) to ensure consistent deployment of continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Monitor performance indicators, measure results, and recommend corrective or optimization actions as needed.
  • Prepare and present progress reports, dashboards, and performance analyses to senior leadership.

Expertise and Support

  • Act as a subject-matter expert and coach to leadership teams in planning and managing a portfolio of high-impact, sustainable initiatives.
  • Facilitate workshops, train, and engage teams in applying Lean, Six Sigma, or Kaizen best practices.
  • Support managers in developing performance management systems and achieving their targets.
  • Collaborate with Finance and Technology teams on continuous improvement projects related to digital transformation, automation, and predictive analytics.

Requirements 

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Management, or another relevant field.
  • 8 to 10 years of experience in business model evolution or transformation within a complex and fast-changing environment.
  • Proven experience in implementing and managing continuous improvement programs across operations, business units, and corporate services.
  • Strong facilitation skills and the ability to engage and mobilize teams.
  • Ability to work effectively at all levels of the organization and influence without direct authority.
  • Analytical mindset with a pragmatic, results-driven approach.
  • Autonomy, rigor, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Lean Six Sigma certification (Green or Black Belt) – an asset.
  • Bilingualism (French/English), spoken and written, required.
