INTERNSHIP - FALL 2025
Job Summary
The Social Media Intern supports the execution of VIA Rail’s social media strategy by creating and publishing engaging content across our platforms. Working in close collaboration with the Social Media Advisor and other members of the Corporate Communications team, they play a key role in enhancing our online presence, fostering community engagement, and promoting our brand values in all our content and interactions.
Main Responsibilities
- Create, schedule and publish original content for VIA Rail’s social media channels (Instagram, Facebook, X, Threads, LinkedIn, YouTube).
- Assist in the execution of seasonal and promotional campaigns on social media, including influencer collaborations and contests.
- Foster an active and positive community on social media by replying to comments and mentions (note: not a customer support role), as well as by identifying and securing UGC.
- Participate in photo and video shoots at VIA Rail events and in stations across our network.
- Stay up to date with social media trends, platform updates and best practices, providing insights and ideas for innovative content and engagement strategies to help our content stand out.
Knowledge and Skill Requirements
- Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a Bachelor’s or Master’s program.
- Fully bilingual (French/English).
- Experience producing content for social media, specifically short-form vertical videos.
- Experience using specialized content creation tools, such as Canva and CapCut.
- Experience working with the Microsoft Office suite of tools.
- Familiarity with social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, X, Threads, LinkedIn, YouTube, etc.), trends, and best practices.
Nice to have:
- Previous work/internship experience in social media, communications, PR, journalism, film, or marketing.
- Experience professionally managing social media accounts.
- Experience working with Adobe tools (Photoshop, Lightroom, Premiere Pro, etc.)
- Experience using social media scheduling and monitoring tools (Meltwater, Hootsuite, Sprout, Sprinklr, etc.)
- A passion for social media, memes, trains, public transportation, photography, videography, and/or travel.
