Under the authority of the reliability engineer, the technical advisor will provide the necessary and required technical support to the concerned teams. He or she will monitor the performance of the rolling stock and identify and document reliability and safety issues, as well as help identify the root cause of recurring problems.
Responsibilities:
Support Activities:
- Holds technical expertise and acts as a resource person for all first and second level technical failures in various areas mainly related to Charger locomotives and Venture cars (Brakes, compressed air, diesel engine, control system, traction motor, power circuit and control, air conditioning and heating system, doors and steps, etc.);
- Ensures knowledge transfer and coaching to the mechanical and maintenance services team when failures are related to the execution of maintenance;
- Ensures the documentation of technical failures that could jeopardize the train’s departure (OTP) or passenger experience. Identifies the similarity between issues and their occurrence on multiple trainsets, and thoroughly documents the case
Performance and Reliability of Rolling Stock:
- Reviews recent train’s defects at the beginning of each shift and documents Wi-Tronix/Railigent data;
- Supports the new fleet engineering and warranty team in order to prioritize which defects to investigate further;
- Applies technical expertise to improve the condition of the rolling stock and proposes improvements to the engineering team, all with the aim of enhancing reliability and performance;
- Works in collaboration with the warranty team to monitor recurring defects, document causes, and suggest solutions;
- Participates in discussions with members of various teams (management, engineering, warranty, quality) to stimulate the exchange of ideas for problem-solving and propose innovative solutions.
- Oversee subcontractor’s supplier work on trainsets
System and reporting
- Create presentations with the findings of the week
- Participate in the governance with the engineer lead of the system
- Review and update CMMIS accordingly
Requirements:
- Technical diploma (DEC or AEC) or electrical or mechanical certification (or equivalent),
- Minimum of eight (8) years of work experience with railway equipment or equivalent.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a technical advisor is an asset.
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office, Word, and Excel.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Teams, Witronix, Quads, Railigent, Maximo would be an asset.

- Bilingualism (French & English).
- May be required to travel to investigate equipment located on the road or in another maintenance center, or to conduct night investigations (rare).
