VIA Rail Canada Inc. is currently seeking 1 Foreman Maintenance of way worker in Toronto.

 

Tasks :

•             Maintenance of track and related equipment in the yard.

•             Must maintain and repair the tracks, the switches, surface preparation, painting.

•             Must be able to maintain, repair, weld, cut, inspect, monitor railway tracks but not limited to maintaining track work.

•             Provide  a positive Track Protection where required.

•             Must be able to use the electric, hydraulic and pneumatic tools.

•             Must be able to work at heights, ladder and personnel lift.

•             Must be able to work inside and outside in any weather throughout the year.

•             The person interested by this position must be in position to work outside of his regular hours in case of emergency repairs or overtime work regarding the Toronto Maintenance Centre operations.

Monday to Friday from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM

 

Salary  : $ 40.45 /H (basis salary plus Qualification Pay 2.38$/H if applicable)

Uniforms, all tools, PPE provided (boots, glasses, helmet, vest, gloves) , free parking, shower\personal change room provided, indoor lunch room.

• Minimum 5 years Railway experience in yard or, main lines and secondary main line including Supervising track work.

• Must have C.R.O.R Rules 105 qualification.

• Must have successfully completed and maintain qualification as required by the Transport Canada Rules Respecting Track Safety.

• Must be able to use hand tools and able to communicate on Radio.

• Must have first aid training

• Must be able to lift and carry at least 75 pounds on occasional basis.

• Must have a valid driver license Class G.

• Must be able to pass VIA Rail National Engineering Track Standard (NETS) internal training.

• Must be able to pass Working at Heights internal training.

• Must be able to pass Forklift internal training.

• Heavy Equipment certification would be considered an asset.

• French language communication would be considered an asset.

 

 

Conditions of hiring:

• Must qualify VIA Rail National Engineering Track Standard (internal training) and General Engineering Instructions .
