Reporting to the chief of activities of the mechanical services and maintenance teams, the technical advisor will provide the necessary and required technical support to the teams at the Toronto Maintenance Center. They will oversee the performance of rolling stock and identify and document reliability and safety issues.
Responsibilities:
Support Activities:

Possesses technical expertise and acts as a resource person for all first- and second-level technical failures encountered by maintenance personnel across different areas of activity, mainly related to locomotives and passenger railcars (brakes, compressed air, diesel engine, control system, traction motor, power circuit and control, air conditioning and heating systems, etc.);

Ensures knowledge transfer and coaching for the mechanical services and maintenance teams;

Manages technical failures that could jeopardize train departures (On-Time Performance - OTP). Identifies and resolves issues within short execution times, even in new or changing situations. Also ensures proper alignment of personnel and prioritizes tasks so that work is performed according to standards and within scheduled timeframes;

Acts as an MTA (Maintenance Technical Advisor) and supports train failures in real-time (night shift only).
Rolling Stock Performance and Reliability:

At the beginning of each shift, reviews train delays and documents Wi-Tronix data and reported defects in virtual logbooks along with the Mechanical and Maintenance services team;

Supports the mechanical and maintenance management team in prioritizing defects and estimating repair times;

Applies technical expertise to improve rolling stock conditions and proposes improvements to the engineering team, with the goal of enhancing reliability and performance;

Collaborates with the mechanical and maintenance team to monitor recurring defects, document causes, and suggest solutions;

Leads discussions with various team members (management, planning, unionized employees) to encourage idea-sharing for problem resolution and propose innovative solutions.
Project Support:

Conducts validation of equipment used in engineering for prototype design.
Requirements:
-
Technical diploma (DEC or AEC) or electrical/mechanical certification (or equivalent);

Minimum of eight (8) years of work experience with railway equipment or equivalent;

Minimum of two (2) years of experience as a technical advisor is an asset;

Good knowledge of Microsoft Office, Word, and Excel;

Familiarity with Microsoft Teams, Witronix, Quads, Railigent, and Maximo would be an asset;

Bilingualism is an asset outside of Quebec;

May be required to travel to support equipment located on the road or at another maintenance center;

Night shift (5,2,2,5).
